“So Sleuth, tell me. What makes you think your blog is any different than the gazillion others out there?”
Ah, a very good question so I will tell you. Granted, I may blather from time to time about inconsequential things to you like my granddaughter, some place I’ve been, my dogs–well maybe not them unless they annoy me–or my writing. Mostly, I hope to make you think about history or current events in a different way. You know, less boring. Maybe you will find something you didn’t know interesting enough to look further. Oh yes, and murders, there will be those. Nothing intrigues me more than historical true crime. So in a nut shell my categories for my blog are as follows:
This could be about almost anything. I will try to create subcategories for this to make it easier for you to skip to a particular subject. History topics will basically be western New York related be it about Native Americans, historic buildings or sites, cemeteries, local folk, crimes (one of my favorites), or how a national event affected us. My goal is to post something new every Sunday. Warning: these may be longer than most posts.
ITS ALL HAPPENED BEFORE
These posts will be the most eye opening I think. Believe me folks, all the stuff going on in the world now–it ain’t nothin’ new. Its all happened before. The most startling comparisons you will find are events from the 1930s and 1940s to current events. It’s like reading today’s headlines. These I plan on posting every Wednesday.
See paragraph one on blathering. Musings may also be my opinion or commentary on current events. Musings will be posted randomly as is often the way when a muse strikes.
Well I do peruse other things besides old dusty pages after all. Reviews will be of fiction that I read for my own enjoyment. It takes me a while to actually finish something between researching and writing about history, so reviews will be sporadic.
Features is just my featured posts at the moment for that really cool rotating picture thingy on my home page.
“Was it really necessary to explain all this?” you ask.
Yes, yes it was. There is nothing more annoying than to get into someone’s blog, and then go back to find nothing new. Time goes by, you check again, and again and posts are so random you give up on it. I thought it would be courteous for my potential readers to know what to expect.
